Martin O'Neill insists George Best could have dominated in any era, especially in the modern game played on 'pristine pitches' and with tough-tackling virtually banished.
O'Neill is quick to reference Manchester United legend Best when discussing his legendary former Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough.O'Neill says he is often asked how Clough would cope in today's game. "Anybody can imbue themselves with tactical knowledge, not a problem, but it’s like saying how would George Best have coped with the modern game?" O'Neill says.
O’Neill's autobiography 'On Days Like These' centres around his complex relationship with Clough, who guided Nottingham Forest to back-to-back European Cup wins in 1979 and 1980.
