If you’re wondering what happened to Thor post-Endgame when he seemingly joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Love and Thunder finally answers that question. After losing the pounds and teaming up with Star-Lord and co to save worlds other than Earth, Thor still feels like something is missing. But when someone starts killing gods he’s compelled to return to Earth where he runs into old flame Jane Foster who it turns out is the new Thor in town.
Together, with the help of Valkyrie and Korg, the pair of Thors take down Gorr the God Butcher and rekindle their love for one another along the way. Sadly, their reunion is short lived as Jane succumbs to the cancer she’s been hiding from Thor, but his sorrow is somewhat tempered by the powerful kid he promises to raise; Gorr’s resurrected daughter.
Their search disturbs the hidden civilisation of Talokan and forces their leader, Namor, to ask Wakandan for help, threatening them with destruction if they refuse. Shuri and Okoye find the young American scientist, Riri Williams, who unknowingly helped reveal Talokan, but they refuse to sacrifice her to Namor. Queen Ramonda sadly loses her life in the ensuing battle, but Shuri develops a synthetic heart-shaped herb which gives her the power of the Black Panther.
Initially driven by vengeance, she ultimately decides to spare Namor and make peace with Talokan, but leaves the Wakandan throne to M'Baku before visiting Nakia who reveals she and T-Challa had a son before he died.
