One unlikely Matilda on the scoresheet in Sunday's programme was Tottenham defender Clare Hunt, who popped up with her first goal for the club in the 83rd minute — albeit a fortuitous one — which still wasn't enough for them to avoid a late 3-2 home defeat to Liverpool. But after City had laboured despite all their dominance, the introduction of Shaw proved decisive when she manoeuvred skilfully to float in a cross from the right which Fowler, peeling away to the back post, headed into a practically unguarded net for her first WSL goal of the season.
