BREAKING: Mason Greenwood charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning ABH
Manchester United player Mason Greenwood has been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed. The England international, 21, from Bowdon, Trafford, will appear in court in Manchester on Monday .
"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice those proceedings."
The CPS said the charges, in full, are - attempting to rape a woman 16 or over, with a date specified as October 22, 2021; engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour, with a period between December 1, 2018 and October 15, 2022 specified; and assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, with a period between December 12, 2021 and December 31, 2021 detailed.
