"It's an exciting time for us, but also financially a really, really integral time for us. It sets up our 52 weeks," said the Hotel's licensee Ash Lyons. Bathurst is within a few hours' drive of Sydney and brings many tourists to the region, despite the pandemic. "It's very, very strange. We're actually contemplating going away for the week instead of staying home and looking after people."The Bathurst City Red Tops soccer club runs a canteen at the top of Mount Panorama, feeding hungry campers with a sausage sizzle.Fiona Prosser said the club will miss out on thousands of dollars of fundraising.
And while the Bathurst 1000 is still going ahead with reduced numbers, other events at the track that the canteen caters for have been cancelled.
