FIFA has handed down its ban for England star Lauren James after the 21-year-old was red-carded in the round of 16 and some fans are now furious with the 'laughable double standards'.
The 21-year-old striker was red-carded when she stomped on defender Michelle Alozie as England beat Nigeria on penalties to advance from the round of 16 on Monday.
If Australia beat France and the Lionesses progress on Saturday the Matildas would be boosted by the prospect of facing England without their star attacker in the semi-final. Abiodun was given a yellow card before VAR upgraded it to a red and she was suspended for three matches by FIFA. FIFA says Lauren James' offence is "serious foul play"and not"violent conduct" so she gets a 2 match banJames' offence was deliberate and violent!
