Scans have confirmed the Lyon defender ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in the Women’s Champions League final
Lyon confirmed the severity of the injury on Tuesday and said Carpenter would have surgery on Wednesday. The 22-year-old now has less than 14 months to recover and regain fitness before the World Cup, which runs from 20 July to 20 August in 2023.
