FIFA threatens the country with suspension amid accusations of money laundering and 'undue influence by third parties' within its federation.
Zambia 's national team could be disqualified from the Paris Olympics after members of its federation were charged with multiple offences.If Zambia is suspended, it could be replaced by Morocco in Group B of the Olympic Games alongside Australia , Germany and the USA.
FAZ general secretary Reuben Kamanga was also arrested and charged, in addition to two others who travelled to the tournament as part of the association's delegation.Following these charges, Zambia's High Court issued an injunction preventing FAZ from holding its annual general meeting, which raised red flags with FIFA, the global football governing body.
The letter said that the cancelled AGM could result in Zambia's suspension from all international competitions, which would mean the women's national team, which qualified for the Olympics for the second time ever this year, may be disqualified before a ball is kicked. "We would like to remind you that a suspended member association may not exercise any of its membership rights. The representative teams as well as the affiliated clubs of this federation can no longer take part in international competitions until the suspension has been lifted."
