New South Wales Governor Margaret Beazley has granted Matt Kean emergency powers to force coal and logistics companies to deliver fuel to generators so the state continues to have a reliable energy supply.
Mr Kean met with NSW Governor Margaret Beazley on Thursday evening to ask for the powers, which give him the ability to force coal and logistics companies to deliver fuel to keep generators supplying energy for domestic use.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022. “I can inform the public that that generator will be coming on tonight so supply conditions will ease,” he said. “My message to the generators needs to be very clear: ‘stop putting your profits above the people, we want the generators to not game the system and to be investing in putting power into the system when we need it’ and that’s my message to the generators today.”
“What we’re dealing with is the result of delay, denial and chaos from the previous government and of course we need to address that quickly."
