The midfielder was surprisingly left out of the squad by the boss after an impressive campaign for the Scottish champions.
Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand has lifted the lid on why he snubbed Matt O'Riley for his Euro 2024 squad despite a "great" season for Celtic - as fans lashed out at the snub.
Instead, the boss has opted for Christian Eriksen - who has barely kicked a ball this term for Manchester United - and Brentford duo Mathias Jensen and Christian Norgaard. Thomas Delaney made the cut after failing to win the league in Belgium with Anderlecht - while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Morten Hjulmand round off the six options the manager has selected for the tournament.
He said: "Matt has been a really good player, he's had a great season. He played well and I understand the question. I have chosen six other midfielders but it was tight. I have chosen six players that we can move around a bit. Mikkel Damsgaard and Andreas Christensen can also cover positions in the midfield It has gone beyond Matt, but it was a difficult choice. I know he will play a lot of international matches.
The decision has sparked anger from Denmark fans. One wrote on X: "The fact that O'Riley is not selected, even if he completely destroys the Scottish league, is absolutely ridiculous."
