Celtic star Matt O’Riley has been tipped to stay at the club beyond the summer transfer window, with a new contract mooted., former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie insisted the midfielder should be offered a bumper new deal with a wage of £40,000 per week to convince him to stay.
O’Riley, 23, swept up at Celtic’s Player of the Year award as he finished the season with 19 goals and 18 assists in 49 appearances, attracting interest from across Europe.it would take a minimum fee of £30million to lure the Denmark international away from Parkhead.Multiple clubs are said to have registered their interest in signing the midfielder this summer after his impressive form, with many expecting him to leave Parkhead.
However, McAvennie thinks he could stay at the club as he doesn’t expect any of the interested clubs to be at a higher level than Celtic, or to be able to give him the support he gets in Glasgow.He could go to Italy and he’d be a star in Italy, it’s his kind of pace and his kind of football, but he’ll never be loved more than when he’s at Celtic Park.
