JASON OM, REPORTER: Matt Peacock is being remembered as one of Australia’s finest investigative reporters.JASON OM: He began his career as a cadet at the ABC in 1973, going on to become chief political correspondent for current affairs radio in Canberra and a foreign correspondent.JASON OM: It was Matt’s decades long pursuit of the asbestos industry with survivors which culminated in his 2009 book, Killer Company.
JASON OM: The book was nominated for a Walkley Award, so too his reporting for 7.30 in 2016 which revealed the underdosing of chemotherapy patients in Sydney. JASON OM: After leaving the ABC in 2014 Matt was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died in Sydney this week.
