A 25-year-old man pleads guilty just hours after being charged with trying to kill another man by hitting him with his car and striking him with a hammer, which left the victim's leg severed.
Matthew William Lawson has pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of a 29-year-old man in City Beach yesterday.
Matthew William Lawson, 25, appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court this morning after police charged him over the incident which stopped traffic in City Beach on Monday morning. Lawson was asked three times whether he would like to obtain legal advice given he was facing an "exceptionally serious charge" and it would be "prudent" to do so, to which he responded "nup" and "it's all good"."Guilty," Lawson said.
"Had the victim not been rendered medical assistance by witnesses at the scene, there is a likelihood that he would have lost his life," Superintendent Manus Walsh said on Monday afternoon.WA Premier Roger Cook labelled the alleged attack "disgusting" and said he's pleased a man is in custody."I don't think you could ever come across a crime more violent, more physical than this.
