, the Mets return a near replica of the varied and balanced lineup that shocked us all a year ago by producing the fifth most runs in baseball despite average power plus a borderline crazy manager Buck Showalter who obsesses and understands the rules probably better than the folks at MLB who devised them.
That’s well and good, but it’s talent that tells the tale for this tandem, and this team. Forget that Scherzer is 38 and Verlander 40, they remain prime-time players.
