Max Verstappen takes advantage of Charles Leclerc's late tyre worries to take the Sprint race at the F1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix — as another poor day on the track leaves Lewis Hamilton writing off his title chances already.
Formula One champion Max Verstappen won a sprint for pole position at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Saturday as Ferrari's Charles Leclerc stretched his overall lead to 40 points.4: Sergio Perez 36Verstappen had already secured the official pole for the record books in a wet Friday qualifying for the sprint but Saturday's result made that concrete as well as bagging him eight points.
"My start was not very good and it took a while to try and put the pressure on," said Verstappen, who made his move two laps from the end. "It felt like we damaged the tyres a bit more, especially the front right for some reason. So, we'll focus on that for tomorrow's race."
