Glenn Maxwell, despite a stellar BBL performance, acknowledges the Australian selectors' decision to leave him out of the Sri Lanka Test squad.
Glenn Maxwell has stated that he understands why he was left out of the Australian Test squad for Sri Lanka, despite his desire to add to his seven Test caps. The 36-year-old all-rounder has been in impressive form in the Big Bash League ( BBL ), leading the Melbourne Stars to victories in their last two matches with matchwinning performances. Maxwell 's desire to play Test cricket was hampered by injury, preventing him from playing Sheffield Shield cricket before Christmas.
He acknowledged the selectors' decision to look at new players in subcontinental conditions, given the upcoming World Test Championship and tours to Sri Lanka in the next few years. Maxwell stated that he respects the selectors' decision and is focused on the remaining BBL matches with the Stars. His recent innings against the Renegades, where he rescued his team from 7-75 to 165, was a testament to his batting prowess.
