Breaking: Brexit has descended further into chaos with the second, historic defeat of Theresa May’s Brexit divorce deal, 391 votes to 242 | NickdMiller

Brexit has descended further into chaos with the second, historic defeat of Theresa May’s Brexit divorce deal, just weeks before it was due to come into effect.

MPs and the May government will now have to decide between a Brexit delay or the predicted economic nightmare of a 'no deal' Brexit. The result also makes a new referendum more likely.A senior Conservative MP said, before the vote, that if it was lost then “as sure as night follows day there will be a general election within a matter of days”.

But it has now been voted down twice: in January the deal was rejected by the House of Commons by 432 votes to 202, the heaviest parliament defeat of any British government in modern history. On Monday night May returned from Strasbourg with what she called “improvements” to the previously rejected deal, contained in a series of documents agreed with EU officials.

Geoffrey Cox only said the changes would keep the EU working with “best endeavours” to replace the backstop with a permanent arrangement.
