McCollum’s Julian Roque congratulates teammate Afton Gutierrez after scoring during District 28-5A baseball action at the Tejeda Sports Complex on Friday, April 14, 2023.When McCollum and Medina Valley last faced off on the baseball diamond on March 24, Medina Valley walked away with an 11-4 win in a game between two of the top teams in District 28-5A.
"It felt good ," said Lopez, who struck out five and walked two in his seven innings of work."I was attacking batters early in the count tonight, which means I had to spot my pitches and I was able to do that. I felt confident in my pitches and felt good out there, but I have to give a lot of credit to my defense. They did a lot of the work for me."
"We're leading in the standings, but I want us to keep playing like we're having to claw our way into the playoffs," said Curtin, whose team has won seven straight games."This district is really competitive and there are a lot of teams really close together. We can't afford to take a game off or have an off day."
