Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said there was no doubt 'enhanced public health social measures' will be on the agenda shortly as COVID-19 cases 'take off'.

The state recorded 51 new locally acquired infections on Friday, with Mr McGowan saying that in the space of a few days case numbers had started"to take off".

"But we are starting to see a clearer picture of what we are dealing with, with Omicron continuing to spread throughout our community." "Enhanced public health social measures are being considered. As the number of local cases grow, well then you might go further than what we currently have," he said in response.

The Premier was also quizzed on whether he thought local infections will continue to be higher than those recorded in travellers and how much that will be factored into the review of hard border measures.
