State and territory leaders erupted in laughter on Friday after Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan made a bizarre job pitch to workers on the east coast during a National Cabinet press conference in Canberra.
Mr McGowan met with state and territory leaders in Canberra on Friday for the first National Cabinet meeting hosted by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
“As you know our economy is very, very, hot and very, very, strong, very low rates of unemployment, very high participation rates so attracting more people into the state is very important for the economy not just of the state but also of the nation.” “Basically based upon the fact you can get a very high-paying job and a house which is half the price of a house in Sydney and Melbourne. So there's a lot of appeal to coming in and living in Western Australia.”
The Prime Minister interjected by stating, “with that ad for the great state of Western Australia… we will leave it there” and wrapped up the conference.
