Mark McGowan has issued a plea to skilled overseas workers to 'build a life' in Western Australia and fill vacant jobs as he continues his 'international mission' to sell his state on the global stage.

"Western Australia has a significant program of major infrastructure projects that continues to contribute to quality job and business opportunities, creating a long pipeline of work into the future.Mr McGowan first left for Europe last month on Qantas' inaugural non-stop flight from Perth to Rome, where he met with Italian business leaders, before heading to the United Kingdom and then Ireland.

While in London last week, Mr McGowan attended the Festival of Apprentices careers expo, which focused on bringing working holidaymakers back to his state. As part of the $195 million Reconnect WA initiative, the state is offering eligible working holiday makers an additional $2,100 if they travel and get jobs in certain regional areas.

Reconnect WA also includes the State Nominated Migration Program, which has just been expanded through an additional 142 occupations being placed on the WA Skilled Migration Occupation List."Attracting workers in the construction and manufacturing sectors to support our booming economy and pipeline of work is a priority for the state government," State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook said.
