The health insurance giant believes the names, date of birth, address, phone number and email addresses of almost 10 million of its current and former customers, as well as authorised representatives were accessed in the attack.
The health insurance giant initially reported about four million of its customers' data was compromised after it reported a"cyber incident" in mid-October.
Medibank has announced it will not pay the hackers of the cyberattack the ransom they demanded and revealed almost 10 million of its customers had their information accessed. To break it down, it is roughly 5.1 million Medibank customers, 2.8 million from ahm and 1.8 million international policy holders. Primary identity documents, such as driver's licences, for Medibank and ahm customers were not accessed, but Medicare numbers for ahm customers were, as well as passport numbers and visa details for international student customers.
