Meet the man who could save conservatives - or take them down with him auspol

On the first day of Queensland’s 2017 election campaign, Liberal National Party leader Tim Nicholls was on a bus, on a highway, headed for the Lockyer Valley.

While some admire his ambitious streak, others fear his experiences will come back to bite him – particularly his close relationship with the Liberal Party and his role as the public face of Careers Australia during its spectacular crash-and-burn three years ago.

But those in the Liberal Party are excited about Benedet’s project. Most praise his strategic mind and the discipline they had seen in his party work, and saw promise in Advance Australia while Benedet was at its helm. Numerous opponents brought up Benedet’s staunch conservatism, and insisted Advance Australia would never be anything other than a Liberal-aligned lobby group.
