She may be only eight years old, but the tiny ballerina is dancing up a storm from the bush to the city.

"I do everything this year, which is ballet, jazz, advance jazz, advance ballet, tap, advance tap, contemporary, flip and flex, a private lesson, and for solos I have a prize-winning one for my ballet, my normal ballet, my jazz, my new tap … so yeah, a lot."

Despite the exceptionally busy schedule that Maddy has week to week, she said she always found time for school, as well as singing lessons on Wednesdays."Ballet is my strongest dance and I really enjoy it because it's all soft," Maddy said.Small town opportunity Branches Performing Arts, Amy Tinning's dance studio, operates in both Julia Creek where Maddy dances, as well as the nearby small town of Cloncurry."I'm super proud, I can't express how proud I am, it's hard to put into words," she said.

"Maddy is one of the kids who certainly does work hard, we've given her the foundation but she's really applied herself."
