This year, NewHollywood features eight creators who approach their work with heart, vision, and an eye toward representation and justice for their generation and all who will come after.❤️
’s New Hollywood Class of 2022 honors the actors, artists, directors, and young celebrities changing how we think about the world and our place in it. These eight creators — Caleb McLaughlin, Sydney Sweeney, Xolo Maridueña, Patti Harrison, Karena Evans, Devery Jacobs, Morgan Cooper, and Nik Dodani — are daring to think about Hollywood differently, challenging the old ways at every turn. It takes guts to reimagine an entrenched system, and they have them in abundance.
While reading these eight profiles, you’ll find some common threads: a passion for collaboration; a prioritization of family and surrounding yourself with good people; and a desire to learn to trust yourself even when others have you second-guessing. All of these creators, at one point or another, found their talents discounted, their dreams challenged, and confidence shaken. But they’re resilient, and everything is a learning experience.
