Civil engineer Sarah Ford is hoping to make her debut for the Sydney Swans in the AFLW this weekend.

AFLW player Sarah Ford knows a thing or two about her new club’s home ground because the 26-year-old engineer is working on it in her day job.

Henson Park is also where Ford fell in love with the game by watching her older brothers James and Campbell play for Sydney side East Coast Eagles, meaning she has a strong connection to the ground.The Australian Financial ReviewWhile her brothers were her sporting idols, Ford hopes she and her Swans teammates can inspire the next generation of girls to pick up a Sherrin. But she wants future AFLW players to be professional and not have to rush off to training after a full shift at work.

The firm, which employs 6000 workers Australia-wide, aims to increase its female representation from 23 per cent to 40 per cent by 2025.
