'To be the Rose of Tralee, it's a legacy, it's something that would be incredible.'

Antrim Rose Mollie O'Brien and Down Rose Nadine Downey are two of 32 Roses which will take to the stage this weekend.

Down Rose Nadine from Mayobridge has just graduated with a degree in Drama and English, and is currently working as a singer and a waitress. "I've always just been in complete awe of the Roses, the way they carry themselves, and how charismatic they are, so strong-willed, so I thought, 'I really would love to do that'. They always looked like they had so much fun - the friendships made and the experiences gained.

"They've watched it for years since they were younger, and it always seemed like an amazing experience and to be involved in it as a Rose would be top class.She added: "The experience has been absolutely amazing. It's been absolutely fantastic, even just meeting all the girls and having the best time. Everybody is so lovely and wanting the best for eachother.
