Firefighters left homeless after battling the 2020 summer bushfires tell their stories.
"I woke up 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning and realised something was happening. I put my gear on, started up the pump, and within five or 10 minutes there were spot fires starting up.
"I had buckets set up and I was running around trying to bucket it out, and then I realised I couldn't stop it. "In Bega hospital, they put me in an induced coma and I woke up in Concord hospital in Sydney. I had first-degree burns and some second-degree burns on my leg, hands, face and neck.
