The Democratic mayors of New York City and Washington DC are calling on the Biden administration to address what they say is a surge of migrants seeking asylum after travelling from Republican-controlled border states to their cities.

On Thursday, Mr Adams further emphasised the influx of migrants into New York and said the city had a legal and moral obligation to provide people shelter, while also condemning Texas and Arizona."This city was already dealing with a shelter population, and we're going to need help to deal with this unprecedented surge."Earlier this week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the Biden administration was looking into the mayors' concerns.$4.
