Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make a public appearance next Monday in New York, as the Duke of Sussex gives a keynote speech at the United Nations for Nelson Mandela Day.
It will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first official appearance since their low-profile attendance at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last month.
The couple, who swapped the United Kingdom for a life in the United States, were last week seen in attendance at a July 4 parade in Wyoming with their son Archie. Prince Harry and Meghan been eager to honour civil rights activist Mandela since meeting his widow Graça Machel in Johannesburg three years ago. "It's wonderful meeting you," Machel said to the couple at the time."I'm sure we're going to be working together in the future. I can feel the vibe."
Mandela was a hero to Harry's mother Princess Diana who met him in South Africa just months before her death in March 1997. The former South African president - also in awe of her - praised her global work with AIDS charities.
