On day two of their trip, the Duke and Duchess celebrated Heritage Day, a holiday which honors the diversity of cultural traditions and beliefs in South Africa, by visiting the Auwal Masjid mosque, the oldest in Cape Town, founded in 1794. During the outing, the new parents viewed the first known manuscript of the Qu'ran in South Africa, and then met members of different faith groups to learn about the work the mosque does to promote interfaith dialogue in the city.
