Police are hunting for a man who stabbed a teenage boy when he stepped in to help his friend as a fight broke out in Dandenong. 7NEWS

Victoria Police say a man boarded a bus in Doveton, Dandenong, about 4pm on October 28 before allegedly becoming involved in a verbal altercation with some school-aged children.The man and the teenager’s friend got into a fight, which spilled onto the street at the next bus stop where the man produced a sharp weapon.

Victoria Police have released two CCTV images of a man they believe will be able to help the investigation into the stabbing.The man ran off towards the nearby Dandenong Plaza shopping centre.Police say the wanted man is described as Caucasian, aged about 30 and 170cm tall with dark hair. He also has a small tribal star tattoo on the back of his left hand.

CCTV images have now been released of a man who police hope will be able to help their investigation into the incident. Anyone who witnessed the stabbing or has information has been urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
