A 29-year-old man in Melbourne was forced to ride in the open boot of his car at speeds exceeding 100km/h after an alleged thief stole his vehicle. The victim desperately tried to stop the theft by jumping into the boot, but the carjacker continued driving erratically before abandoning the car and fleeing.

A shocking carjacking incident unfolded in Melbourne , leaving the victim in a state of disbelief. On December 27, at approximately 11:00 am, a 29-year-old man left his car momentarily unattended in a carport on Fitzgerald Street in Essendon. Seizing the opportunity, an alleged thief stole the vehicle, forcing the victim to take a terrifying and unexpected ride.

In a desperate attempt to prevent the theft, the victim leaped into his car's open boot and frantically yelled for help from passersby. However, the carjacker continued driving, speeding through the streets at over 100km/h, including over speed bumps, and even veering onto the wrong side of the road on multiple occasions, all while demanding the victim exit the boot. The incident was captured on CCTV footage, and Victoria Police have released images in hopes of identifying the suspect.The carjacker eventually abandoned the vehicle on Guthrie Street in Brunswick West, fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cm tall, with tattoos covering his left hand, left leg, and left arm. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the carjacking, possesses dashcam footage, or has any information related to the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online
