Police are on the hunt for a gang of youths who carjacked a Melbourne mum at knifepoint just metres from her home where her young daughter was sleeping.
Preston mum Leanne was leaving her home to go to the airport about 4:30 yesterday morning when she was set upon by a group of armed youths.
Up to four offenders pulled up to the 41-year-old's home in a stolen Toyota and forced her out of her Holden Astra at knifepoint.Melbourne mum Leanne recounted the horrifying ordeal to 9News. " had my door open within a second, screaming at me, threatening me with a knife to get out of the car," she said."I really thought I was getting dragged into the four-wheel drive and then I wasn't gonna see my family again," she said.Leanne told 9News she thought she was going to be abducted by the gang.
"They had a knife, and I was scared that if I got to the door and they chased me, that they could get into my house where my daughter was sleeping," she said. Her husband woke to the commotion and tried to chase down the thieves, but they made off with Leanne's car, luggage, designer handbag as well as sentimental items.
Leanne says she is speaking out to warn the community to remain vigilant and keep car doors locked at all times."We should all feel safe in our space, in our house, in our street, in our suburb."
