A Melbourne mother and her family are trapped in Israel and desperately trying to flee as Hamas continues its assault. Nicole Brodie Nahum and her three children have been sheltering in their apartment north of Tel Aviv, where she says they are “prisoners in the house”.

The family have been sleeping together in Nicole’s daughter’s room where their bomb shelter is and said they had been listening to explosions for days. “Honestly, that doesn’t scare me, which sounds ridiculous. What scares me is that when there is a group of terrorists driving around with guns shooting everyone — That scares me,” the mother told 7NEWS. “Our babysitter’s boyfriend got murdered. It’s unimaginable the things that are happening.
