A head-on crash is causing long traffic delays in Melbourne ’s north as the morning peak hour builds. The two-car collision happened near College Cres in Parkville at about 6am on Thursday and closed all westbound lanes on Cemetery Rd. The lanes reopened at 7am, but there is massive congestion westbound with traffic banked all the way to the Eastern Fwy and delays of up to 40 minutes.

Nicholson St to the south or Brunswick Rd to the north can also be used as alternatives. The extent of injuries in the crash are not yet known and police are expected to be at the scene for some time. On Thursday morning there was also a collision on the Monash Fwy just after Stud Rd and drivers have been urged to allow a bit of extra time moving past the incident.
