A Melbourne student is $4.8 million richer after winning The Lott’s Set For Life division one prize in Monday’s draw. The man, aged in his 20s, will pocket $20,000 a month for the next 20 years. “I have butterflies in my stomach, it’s so unexpected,” he told The Lott officials when they rang him with the good news. “Thank you so much.” The man said he purchased his ticket minutes before the draw closed and also decided last-minute to not use his own numbers.
“I’ve already shared the news with my parents and some close friends, they were all so happy for me,” he told The Lott. The Lott confirmed $20,000 will be deposited into the winner’s bank account on the 15th day of every month for the next two decades. The student said he would likely use the money to pay off his degree and set up his future, but not before celebrating with his family. “I haven’t thought of any immediate plans just yet, but I’m thinking I might invest the prize,” he said.
