Last year, she was running the Sydney Writers’ Festival when the national lockdown forced its cancellation.
Michaela McGuire says the festival’s theme is deliberately resisting a neat ending and looking to imagine new ways forward.So she wasn’t entirely surprised that late last week, after the program for the festival’s 35th year had been sent to the printers, it became obvious that writers scheduled to come from NSW would be unable to attend in person.
