Melbourne Zoo vets are investigating the death of a 20-year-old gorilla named Kimya , which has left the zoo community devastated.

"As part of this investigation a full necropsy will be undertaken to determine the cause of death," the zoo said.Kimya first arrived at Melbourne Zoo from the Taronga Conservation Society in 2013 and quickly bonded with 24-year-old male, Otana.
