Buzz Williams expects a good prep for SEC play that begins in January

“This will be the biggest test we’ve had, and it will require us to be at our best to be in a position to have a chance,” A&M coach Buzz Williams said of facing Hardaway’s University of Memphis squad in FedEx Forum. “It’s one of the better environments in the country,” Williams said of Memphis’s setting in Hardaway’s fifth season. “There will be a lot stacked against us, but like I told the we’re going to have 10 or 12 more of these . … The environment we’re playing in and the talent we’re playing against — the pace that they play with will be unlike anything that we have played thus far.”
Davis, who transferred to Memphis from SMU, is averaging 20 points per game. He’s followed in scoring by another Houstonian: forward DeAndre Williams, a 2016 Klein Forest graduate who is averaging 14 points per game.
