Let’s start with Merit’s hero product – The Minimalist. This was one of the first products I tried and I have to say, I was a little dubious. Not because I had any doubts about Merit, but because I usually don’t get on with stick foundations. However, quickly after using it, I discovered that it's the creamy and blendable formula that has garnered all of the hype. It's pigmented enough to cover blemishes and redness, yet still feels breathable and hydrating on your skin – a rare find in a stick formula. The Minimalist is designed for precise application (like spot concealing) as well as all-over coverage; however, I found it looked most flattering as a way to touch up my complexion. I used the Great Skin Instant Glow Serum sandwiched between my moisturiser and The Minimalist, which gave the most envious glow to my skin. While you don’t have to invest in the Glow Serum (I wouldn’t call it an essential), it did leave a luminous sheen and created the perfect canvas to apply The Minimalist. The liquid instantly seeps in to hydrate and plump, without leaving a sticky residue – and its subtle shine gave a glass-skin effect. (Seriously, if you don’t believe me, these pictures do all the talking). With freckles and texture still showing through, the stick enhanced my complexion to make it look like I had a sublime skincare routine and naturally great skin, rather than a high-coverage foundation doing all the work. While there’s nothing stopping you from buffing it all over, you don’t get that much product for your money, so I’d recommend savouring it for the areas you’d specifically like to touch up and let the rest of your complexion shine through.

to master the illusion of a pin-sharp jawline. However, fast forward to today and our demands are significantly pared back.

Honouring the less-is-more approach, we are revoking the notion that visible signs of ageing should be hidden. We’re retaliating against industry hyperbole which implies investing in a £50 foundation has the power to turn back the clock. With a beauty sphere so epic, it's the brands that position themselves as champions for our natural skin that truly stand out.has been garnering our attention since 2021.

Promising to enhance, not conceal, Merit’s buttery textures and glowy finishes makes them super simple to use. Each product is a quick-fix that takes little skill or dexterity to use – and makes achieving a five-minute-makeup routine less of a fantasy. The slick packaging and gold adornments might look expensive, but each piece will only set you back by a maximum of £40.

As well as its refreshingly easy ethos, what’s so alluring about Merit is that it’s fully age inclusive. While many beauty brands mould themselves to meet millennial needs, Merit caters to the entire age spectrum. Take a peep at its beautifully chicbranding and you’ll see its flattering formulas working across all ages – Matilda Djerf calls on the Shade Slick to add a sheer shine to her lips, while Cameron Diaz uses the sheer Flush Blush to perk up her complexion.
