Met Office heat health alert issued for Lancashire and Cumbria ahead of 28C weekend
A heat health alert has been issued for Lancashire and Cumbria by the UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office ahead of the weekend.
The UKHSA initially issued yellow warnings for parts of England on Wednesday and has now raised the level to amber for the West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South East and South West. It means the impact of the heat is “likely to be felt across the whole health service … and the wider population, not just the most vulnerable”.
There is also the potential for indoor environments, including health and care settings, to become very warm. "If you have friends, family or neighbours who you know are more vulnerable to the effects of hot weather, it is important you check in on them and ensure they are aware of the forecasts and are following the necessary advice."
