A change in the weather is on the cards
After a wet and relatively chilly July and August, Greater Manchester has basked in glorious weather this week. Summer finally seemed to have returned to the region - at the start of September.
But the Met Office is warning a change is on the cards in the coming days. A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for Saturday . The warning is set for 2pm until 9pm tomorrow. It covers most of Greater Manchester - except Wigan - plus Cheshire, the midlands and large parts of Wales.Forecasters are warning people to expect heavy showers and thunderstorms, which could lead to disruption. The Met Office says drivers should prepare for tricky conditions and possible flooding on roads, while power cuts could also take place.
Temperatures are expected to remain high over the weekend - with highs of 28C today and 27C on Saturday and Sunday in Manchester. The weather will take a cooler turn from Monday, with highs of 21C forecast, before the mercury drops again on Tuesday to 18C. Despite the warning for thunderstorms, Manchester is currently forecast to have sunshine throughout Saturday. Showers are expected to follow on Sunday and Monday.
