Sunny conditions have finally arrived this week after a miserable summer as a heatwave has swept across the country However, the glorious weather is predicted to come to a sharp end tomorrow as heavy showers are expected to hit the North West.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for tomorrow as the forecasting agency warn: "A few heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible, perhaps leading to some disruption." The alert comes into force at 2pm on Saturday, September 9 and is in place until 9pm.The alert narrowly misses Merseyside but is expected to impact Widnes and Warrington. The Met Office has issued a warning that people in the area could face disruption.
"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds." Liverpool is predicted to remain dry tomorrow with temperatures peaking at 24C. However, the rain is predicted to arrive on Sunday as light showers are expected throughout the afternoon.
The full forecast for the North West said: "Any early low cloud burning back to the coasts leaving another warm and mostly dry day. A small chance of an afternoon shower, which could be heavy and thundery. Maximum temperature 28 °C."Win a top-of-the-range Shark vacuum cleaner worth £449.99
