Metro-North and Amtrak service in NYC area disrupted by Westchester mudslide
Crews are racing to restore service on Metro-North and Amtrak lines connecting New York City to upstate New York after a mudslide spurred by heavy rain spilled onto train tracks in Westchester County on Saturday morning. The damage is expected to jeopardize service for the remainder of the weekend – and potentially disrupt Monday morning commutes for many New Yorkers.
As of late Sunday afternoon, service on Metro-North’s Hudson Line remained suspended in both directions between the Tarrytown and Croton-Harmon stations, with no trains servicing the Philipse Manor, Scarborough, and Ossining stations, according to the MTA. It was not immediately clear when service on Metro-North or Amtrak would be restored. Neither the MTA nor Amtrak immediately responded to requests for comment Sunday afternoon.
