According to the health expert, certain kinds of workouts incorporate movement that can burn calories with less sweat
Michael Mosley has shared two exercises that can boost calorie burning - and they won't get your heart racing. When it comes to burning calories, we immediately think of gruelling, long jogs or lifting heavy weights.
As written in the book, Michael explains: "You might think that running up a hill is better for you than running down, or that climbing a flight of stairs is going to challenge your muscles more than taking the lift to the top of a tall building and walking down, but in fact, the opposite is true.
During concentric exercise, the tiny fibres in a muscle breakdown - stimulating a hormone which repairs them stronger than before - making muscles bigger and more defined. Repairing this damage causes the body to burn calories, so the bigger the fibre damage, the bigger the calorie burn. As written in Just One Thing, Professor Kay explains: "The greater damage means the body burns more calories in the process of repair and recovery after the exercise has been performed. This raises the metabolic rate and increases strength in a far more effective way than conventional forms of exercise".
