The government says breaking up supermarket giants could push food prices higher;Two men have drowned in a pool at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.The men, aged in their 60s and 30s, were treated by paramedics before being declared dead at the scene.Labor is not convinced that breaking up supermarket giants would help consumers at the checkout, pointing to warnings proposed changes could in fact push up food prices.
Assistant Minister for Competition Andrew Leigh told the ABC there could be consequences to breaking up businesses. Under the proposal, non-citizens face up to five years in prison if they don't cooperate with authorities to facilitate their deportation.
