Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona repeatedly refused to define 'woman' or definitively explain the extent of 'equal access' for transgender students during a committee hearing Tuesday.

Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga., shared a tense exchange with Secretary of Educationon Tuesday after Cardona repeatedly refused to define"woman" or definitively explain the extent of"equal access" for transgender students under the Biden administration's new Title IX rules.

"I think that's almost secondary to the important role that I have as Secretary of Education," Cardona responded. "OK, so you’re not going to answer my question," Clyde said."Do you believe that a biological male who self-identifies as a woman should be allowed to compete in women's sports?" Cardona again refused to answer, saying,"I believe our focus needs to make sure that all students have access to public education."

"I believe it's important that we take into account the needs of all students when they're engaging in—" Cardon said.
