A trio of Denver Broncos luminaries are again on the doorstep of Hall of Fame enshrinement. Will any of them be welcomed into the NFL’s most exclusive club this year?
Coaches Mike Shanahan and Dan Reeves are each among the 12 coach/contributor finalists and linebacker Randy Gradishar is among 12 senior player finalists.
Only one finalist from the coach/contributor group is moved forward for enshrinement, but this year three seniors are being recommended, which gives Gradishar perhaps a better chance of getting the call after so many years of waiting. The committee that selects the coach/contributor meets Aug. 15 and the seniors committee meets Aug. 22.
All three men were Hall of Fame finalists a year ago and Gradishar is a finalist for the fifth time overall. In addition to this year and last, he made it to this point in 2020, 2008 and 2003. Gradishar spent his 10-year career with the Broncos, earned AP Defensive Player of the Year in 1978 and was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
