Mike Tyson has owned up to a “biting fixation” after being asked why he was repeatedly chomping down on his gloves in his defeat to Jake Paul. The former heavyweight champion’s controversial return to professional boxing petered out within minutes of the opening bell as his 58-year-old legs struggled against his 27-year-old rival. And with little in the way of action, conversation quickly turned to what Tyson was doing during the bout.
Tyson and Holyfield buried the hatchet years ago, with the latter joining Lennox Lewis in their former rival’s dressing room before the fight. At one point in the second round Tyson bit down on his glove immediately after throwing a left, prompting Jones Jr to believe he was having mouthguard issues. “I don’t like that. Not a good sign,” he said. Early in the third the commentators were again stuck on the discussion point. “I gotta say I don’t like how they keep messing with their mouthpiece.
